It’s taken 27 years, but British electronic band, Faithless, has finally figured out how to get some sleep - by releasing the iconic 90s dance anthem, Insomnia, as a 27 minute sleep track.
The dance anthem that kept people up through the night has been redesigned to help people get their best night’s sleep yet. The audio has been informed by insights from sleep scientist, James Wilson, with original elements of the track slowed down to 100bpm - the optimal tempo for sleep.
"Sister Bliss has done an incredible job of incorporating sleep science into the new remix of Insomnia - from dropping the tempo to the match the resting heart rate BPM to the incorporation of AMSR-style spoken word Insomnia: The Sleep Remix has all the ingredients to guide you towards a blissful night’s sleep" James Wilson
Sleep is the ultimate human superpower.
Quality sleep is the foundation for a healthy and happy life. Not only are our productivity, energy and stamina deeply affected by our sleep, when we sleep well, the world will become a kinder, happier and healthier place to be.
Our recent research found that found 82% of UK adults suffer from Insomnia and over half (55%) consider themselves ‘bad sleepers’.
We're all born with the ability to sleep. But modern life sometimes gets in the way, and we lose touch with the natural rhythms which control our sleep.
Both CBD and music aid sleep by helping you relax.
Children aren’t the only ones who can benefit from lullabies before bedtime. People across age groups report better sleep quality after listening to calming music. In a study of people with insomnia, participants played a self-selected album when getting into bed for 10 consecutive nights. Before adding music to their evening routine, it took participants from 27 to 69 minutes to fall asleep. After adding music it only took only 6 to 13 minutes for them to drop off.
“The existing research into sleep and sound clearly shows that music stimulates chemicals in the brain that improve our propensity for a good night’s sleep and help us to relax. Couple this with OTO’s Sleep Drops, and you’ve a winning pre-sleep formula to ensure your night’s slumber is as restful as possible”. James Wilson, the Sleep Geek
Which is why, in partnership with Faithless, we have rewritten Insomnia into a 27 minute track designed to lull you to sleep. The duration of Insomnia: Blissful Sleep Remix is 27 minutes - the average amount of time it takes Brits to ‘Drop Off’.
“It’s hard to believe we produced Insomnia 27 years ago in a garden shed. Being in there all day and then DJ-ing at night was like having permanent jet lag, so I came up with the title ‘Insomnia’, because I literally couldn’t sleep. Once released, the track became an anthem for a generation of late night clubbers who, as the lyric goes, were also getting ‘no sleep’. With that legacy in mind, the opportunity to collaborate with OTO on the creation of a Sleep Remix was one I couldn’t turn down. I can’t wait to get the track out there and help a nation of bad sleepers finally get the rest they’re craving.” Sister Bliss
